About Nested by Nora

Updated

Nested by Nora helps you get the sizes right before you buy: the TV that fits your seat, the art above the sofa, the rug under the table, the light over it and the comforter on the bed. Everything here is free, and every tool runs in your browser.

What Nora stands for stays the same on every page:

  • Measure first. Every recommendation starts with a measurement, and the tool to work it out is right there.
  • Proportion over trends. The page explains the guideline before the look.
  • Buy the standard size. The ideal number becomes the sizes stores actually sell, with a plain note on when close enough is fine.
  • Cozy, not showy. Warm, lived-in rooms over “statement” pieces.
  • Honest about guidelines. Design rules are conventions, not laws, and the pages say when it’s fine to break them.
  • Budget-aware. When a smaller size works just as well, the page says so.

How the tools work

You enter your room’s measurements, and the calculator applies a sizing guideline to them: the walkway around a bed, how much of a sofa the art above it should span, how high a TV should sit for your seat. Under every result, “How we calculate” shows the rule, the assumptions and the math, and the worked examples walk through sample rooms step by step. Where a building code or a safety rule applies, the page says so.

What this site isn’t

Nested by Nora is general information, not professional advice. A calculator can’t see your room, your wall or your TV, so measure carefully and follow the manufacturer’s instructions for anything you mount or hang. The disclaimer has the details.
