The calculators, size guides and articles on Nested by Nora are general information. They aren’t professional design, construction, electrical or other advice, and using them doesn’t create any professional relationship.

Measure your own room

A calculator can’t see your room. Its answer depends on the measurements you enter and on the guideline and assumptions explained under each result. Measure carefully, measure twice, and check the product’s real dimensions on its spec sheet before you buy: the size a product is sold as isn’t always its full size.

Guidelines, not rules

Sizing rules for TVs, art, rugs and lighting are design guidelines from manufacturers, standards bodies and designers. They’re a good starting point, and your room, your eyesight and your taste may call for something different.

Follow the manufacturer’s instructions

For anything you mount, hang or install, such as a TV mount, a light fixture or a ceiling fan, the manufacturer’s instructions and weight ratings come first. A height or size on this site is never a promise that a mount, an anchor or a wall will hold. For anything involving wiring, the building’s structure or a heavy load, ask a qualified professional.

No warranty
